I just wanted to let you know how well our "Errand of Angels" program went. It was our RS Birthday dinner/program. It was AMAZING!!! Thanks again - I got the idea from Kathleen Ashcroft and then we changed just a little to fit our ward and needs.
We started the evening off with two sisters singing three songs- "Consider the Lilies", "As Sisters in Zion", and "Angels Among Us". Then we had our dinner (an amazing salad with the yummiest Strawberry Vinagarette dressing-I'll get you the recipe later) So to continue on with the dinner... We had chicken alfredo, (but we did use fetticini noodles , not angel hair pasta just because we like it better), bread sticks, and angel food cake with strawberries and whipped cream.
Oh, before we began dinner, our enrichment leader introduced our 'Angel Tree' (it was a Christmas tree decorated with small handmade angels. Each angel had a name of a sister in the ward.) We were encourage to take two or three and do acts of service for them/ or just get to know them better. It was such a great thing because we have been encouraged by the Stake Presidency to do more service and we are keeping track of it each month and turning it in along with our reading record of scriptures and other good books.
Then as we were finishing our dessert, we watched a slideshow/powerpoint show to music. It was of all the sisters in the ward (I actually didn't get quite everyone, so their names were listed at the end of the presentation, but we had most of the sisters!). The songs we used were-"A Woman's Heart", "As Sisters in Zion" (the version from the show Errand of Angels-it's so awesome!), "Angels Among Us" (minus the first verse), and "Angels on Tiptoe". It was so amazing!!! The sisters loved it and everyone wants copies of it!
Then we had a short talk by our Stake Relief Society President. She was great!! She talked about the angels/ sisters around us and how we help and uplift one another. She told a few short stories that were very touching. Then we had a closing song- "Love One Another". It was such a great evening!! And not too much!!
It was great to hear the sisters talking afterward and looking over the angel tree to pick names of sisters they didn't know or wanted to know better. I wish I had pictures to post of it, but I completely forgot to bring my camera! (And after all the pictures we have been collecting this last month for this program!)
The people that helped me with the slideshow were: Amy Jensen, Tara Schwab, Emma Maughan, Mary Peacock, John Mortensen (my hubby!), and Doug Walker (the one who put it all together in its final version!) THANK YOU!!! There were other people on the committee who did food, decorating, fliers, singing, etc. They were Connie Birky, Lenayda Jeppesen, Marie Hansen, Mary Peacock, Krista Hullinger, Andra Peterson, Emma Maughan, Jazel Thomas, Bishop Birky, and Connie's parents. I hope I didn't forget anyone!!
